Horsham Beer Festival

For over a decade The Beer Essentials has organized the annual Horsham Beer Festival. The Festival features 50 real ales and 10 ciders, hand picked from all across the UK and it is held at Horsham's Drill Hall, a former 1920's dance hall.

We run 3 seperate 4 hour sessions over the course of the Festival weekend: Saturday 12pm - 4pm, Saturday 6pm - 10pm and Sunday 12pm - 4pm. All the sessions feature hot and cold food and live entertainment, including Morris dancing on Sunday.

Several years on, the Festival has become a staple of the autumn season in Horsham and continues to bring merriment to it's attendees. If you have never been, buy a ticket and experience this fantastic event for yourself!

The 2017 Beer Festival will take place on the 9th and 10th of September. Tickets are now on sale!

Beers

1648 Bee Head ABV 4.6% East Hoathley, East Sussex
An award-winning bitter flavoured with Sussex honey and balanced with subtle biscuit malt.

Adur Black William ABV 5% Steyning, West Sussex
Rich black stout with plenty of dark chocolate and roasted malt flavour.

Andwell Gold Muddler ABV 3.9% Hook, Hampshire
A blonde bitter with a citrus aroma and a clean fresh bitterness.

Arundel Black Stallion ABV 3.7% Ford, West Sussex
A traditionally brewed dark and creamy mild. It's low gravity and hop rate give a slightly sweeter character. International award-winner and former Champion Beer of Horsham Beer Festival (under its previous name Sussex Mild).

Ballards Midhurst Mild ABV 3.5% Nyewood, Hampshire
Mahogany brown mild with a full roasted malt flavour and hints of smoke, dark chocolate and nuts.

Bath Ales Gem ABV 4.1% Bristol, Somerset
Classic English bitter brewed with floor-malted Maris Otter barley and Kentish Goldings hops.
 
Bedlam SMaSH ABV 4.4% Albourne, West Sussex
Pale bitter brewed using just one type of malt and a single hop variety.

Bexley Red House ABV 4.2% Bexley, Kent
A traditional pale ale with well rounded bitterness and a clean finish.

Bingham Vanilla Stout ABV 5% Ruscombe, Berkshire
Complex dark stout infused with vanilla. CAMRA Champion Beer of Great Britain 2016.

Bristol Beer Factory Milk Stout ABV 4.5% Bristol, Somerset
Sweet, black, full-bodied stout with lots of roasted flavour from the chocolate and black malts.

Brolly Lowfold Wissy ABV 3.8% Wisborough Green, West Sussex
A traditional Sussex style bitter using 5 different malts and 3 different hops that combine to deliver a balanced, smooth session beer with bags of flavour.

Brunning & Price Original ABV 3.8% Heywood, Greater Manchester
A deep golden bitter, gently hopped and with a malty sweetness and a long refreshing finish. Occasionally featured at the Black Jug, Horsham.

Burning Sky Plateau ABV 3.5% Firle, East Sussex
A fabulous session bitter with a great hop and malt balance. Loads of complex hop character comes from a variety of American and New Zealand hops.

Cotleigh Osprey ABV 5% Wiveliscombe, Somerset
A strong golden bitter which is clean and refreshing with a generous, well hopped bitterness.

Dark Star Six Hop Ale ABV 6.5% Partridge Green, West Sussex
This is the “vintage” version of Dark Star's famous hoppy pale ale, which just means that I've stored it for around 5 months to let it get even tastier! Enjoy it because you'll have to wait till March to drink it again.

Downlands 6 ABV 5% Small Dole, West Sussex
Massively hopped 6th anniversary IPA.

Eight Arch Session IPA ABV 3.8% Wimborne, Dorset
A light golden bitter brewed with Citra and Simcoe hops.

Essential Beers Festival ABV 5% Horsham, West Sussex
A full-bodied, ruby bitter with a good balance of hop and malt flavours.

Exmoor Beast ABV 6.6% Wiveliscombe, Somerset
Rich dark porter with hints of toffee, rum and fruit cake. Take care....Beast by name beast by nature!

Fallen Acorn Expedition IPA ABV 5.5% Gosport, Hampshire
A classic IPA packed full of citrus flavour with a lingering bitterness.

Fat Cat Honey Ale ABV 4.3% Norwich, Norfolk
A golden ale flavoured with Norfolk honey.

Fixed Wheel No Brakes IPA ABV 5.9% Black Heath, West Midlands
IPA packed full of classic American hops. English malts provide balance and a touch of sweetness.

Flack Manor TPA  ABV 5.3% Romsey, Hampshire
IPA brewed with Goldings and Fuggles hops giving a distinctive hop character.

Franklins English Garden ABV 3.8% Bexhill, East Sussex
Bright golden session ale brewed with 5 different hops.

Goldmark Moshpit IPA ABV 5.6% Poling, West Sussex
A refreshing crisp IPA bursting with tropical fruit flavours.

Greyhound Booster ABV 4.4% West Chiltington, West Sussex
This American style brown ale is a delicious balance of lightly toasted English malts and punchy Cascade hops. Delightfully quaffable with a great bitter finish.

Gun Zamzama ABV 6.5% Gun Hill, East Sussex
A modern take on a classic IPA with big hop and malt flavours. This is beer is unfined and therefore naturally hazy.

Hammerpot Northbrook Harvest ABV 4.8% Hammerpot, West Sussex
A rich amber harvest ale bursting with fruity hop flavours. Brewed with American, New Zealand and English hops.

Hepworth Prospect ABV 4.5% Billingshurst, West Sussex
Organic pale ale brewed with Sussex grown barley and Golding and Admiral hops.

High Weald Charcoal Burner ABV 4.3% East Grinstead, West Sussex
A traditional English oatmeal stout.

Hogs Back TEA ABV 4.2% Tongham, Sussex
A classic best bitter, TEA has won numerous CAMRA awards. It is pale brown with a great balance of hops and fruit and a long dry finish.

Howling Hops Chocolate Stout ABV 5.2% Hackney, London
Full flavoured smooth stout with a complex aroma and taste of coffee and chocolate.

Pilgrim Quench ABV 3.6% Reigate, Surrey
A refreshing zesty pale golden ale.

Revolutions Switch ABV 4.5% Castleford, West Yorkshire
Super-hopped pale ale.

Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild ABV 6% Sedgley, West Midlands
An extremely dark ale with a good balance of fruit and hops leading to a pleasant hop and malt finish. A former Horsham Beer Festival Champion.

Thornbridge Jaipur ABV 5.9% Bakewell, Derbyshire
Multi-award winning IPA which owes its amazing drinkability to its perfect hop and malt balance.

Titanic Plum Porter ABV 4.8% Stoke, Staffordshire
Dark and delicious porter flavoured with plums and gently hopped with Goldings hops. Winner Speciality Class Champion Beer of Great Britain 2016.

Top-Notch Risky Shift ABV 4.8%% Haywards Heath, West Sussex
A pale golden bitter with pale base malts and 5 different US hops (Chinook, Centennial, Mosaic, Simcoe and Citra) added in 6 different additions. Hoptimised for a great hop flavour and aroma. Citrus fruity and tropical!

Tring Kellett ABV 4.2% Tring, Hertfordshire
Bock-style beer with lots of rich malty flavour and gently hopped with German hop varieties.

Vibrant Forest Cydonia ABV 4.7% Lymington, Hampshire
Red ale with a big flavour of American hops nicely balanced with biscuity malt.

Weltons Dreadlock Porter ABV 6% Horsham, West Sussex
Smooth and interesting coconut porter.
